One of the highlights of my family’s trip to Japan last month was that we were able to attend a traditional Japanese Tea Ceremony. We entered a very old tea house. We were cautioned not to lean against the walls since they were very fragile because of their age.
I really admired my kids during the tea ceremony. They’re always willing to try something new when we travel together. We were told that the tea might be bitter compared to the kind of tea that we usually drank.
My kids finished the tea that was served to them without any comment aside from saying thank you in Japanese.
(Personally, I enjoyed the tea and liked how its slight bitterness added to its flavor.)
I took this photo of the tea being prepared using a Canon EOS M5, EF-M lens adapter and a Canon EF 85mm f/1.8 lens. My exposure settings were f/2.8, 1/125 at ISO 1600.
I wonder when I’ll be able to back to Japan again for another drink of tea.
