My daughter recently began a new chapter in her life. She’s taking a three year diploma course in fashion design. My wife and I supported her decision because we felt that it was important to support and encourage her passion.
The school where we enrolled her in neglected to mention a few things prior to her enrollment.
It turned out that she would need a laptop and an external hard drive (these are the things parents sort of need to know before we give you the check payment for the tuition fee).
I felt that it was important for my daughter to have hardware that I know would not fail her. I wanted her to use hardware of the same brand that I use for my professional work.
I already got her a Dell XPS 13 laptop last schoolyear. It’s a small and lightweight and easy for her to tote around school. She’s been enjoying its 4K touch display but she asked for a mouse because she would be using Adobe Photoshop CC for her school work.
I bought her a Logitech M280 mouse like what I use. No wires, no hassle. She liked how its size and ergonomic shape fits in her hand. It’s a power miser when it comes to battery life. I haven’t changed the batter of my M280 in almost two years.
I got her a Western Digital 1TB My Passport portable hard drive from Abacus Computers (3F VMall, Greenhills). It has an SRP of Php 2,900.00 and comes for free with a protective case. I’ve owned and used several Western Digital hard drives through the years and haven’t been disappointed with their reliability.
It gives me peace of mind as a parent that my daughter will be using hardware for her school needs that she can depend upon.
